The G.O.O.A.L.™ of Reaching Out: A Reciprocity of Love

Life often finds us nestled comfortably on familiar branches, routines established, paths well-worn. Yet, the Christian faith calls us to a different kind of existence, one where complacency stagnates and growth demands that believers “Go Out On A Limb.”

Make it our G.O.O.A.L. (2 Corinthians 5:9) to “Go Out On A Limb” for others (John 15:8) because Jesus Christ “went out on a tree” for you! (Galatians 3:13, 2 Corinthians 5:15). There’s a reciprocity inherent in generosity. For in the giving, we ourselves are freed (Proverbs 11:25). — Rauhmel Fox

The acronym “G.O.O.A.L.™” for “Go Out On A Limb,” far from reckless, embodies the essence of Christian love — a love that extends beyond the self, a love that “goes out on a tree” (Galatians 3:13). It urges us to “make it our G.O.O.A.L.™” (inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:9) to stretch ourselves, not for personal gain, but for the sake of others, mirroring the ultimate act of love displayed by Jesus Christ.

John 15:8 beautifully captures this notion: “By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” We are called to be fruitful, not in self-serving pursuits, but in acts of love and service.
